Nils is here!
My little brother, Nils Eric, was born last Monday, October 6. Mama says her bag of water broke at 1:30 in the morning, after Daddy and her had only slept for one hour. She started to have contractions every five minutes or so that weren't bad at all. They called the OBGYN hotline to tell them about it and to be told to go to the hospital. The doctor on call called back half an hour later asking why they weren't on the way yet. So Daddy grabbed all my stuff, woke me up and threw me in the car and we all rolled out. They dropped me off at my friend Chloe's house at 2:30 AM (HOW EXCITING!) and made their way to the hospital. When they had checked in, Mama was dilated to 4-5cm and the contractions were getting more intense. Mama ordered all the pain medications on the menu, was hooked up to IV fluids, an antibiotic and some IV pain medication which Daddy said got her very stoned. Mama's epidural arrived around 5 or 6 (Mama doesn't know.. , Daddy forgot.), just in time before Mama's pain tolerance was superceded. Then at 8:45 when Mama was checked again, she was dilated to 10cm, but the doc had two more women to attend to that were all laboring and apparently ready to push all at the same time... other than them three, there was noone else in labor and delivery that morning. Funny, eh? Mama started pushing around 9:30, and about 45 minutes later, Nils was there with his 21 inches and 10 pounds, 12 ounces. And I'm a big sister now! Yay!
